Attendee Information and Resources - Please check back at this page
in the days before the convention for any helpful last-minute news we
may have for you.
For those of you who are registered for CCL Convention 2004, we would
like to provide some information and resources for you to speed your registration
when you arrive at Lewis University.
Getting to the Convention
 You
may like to print the
Driving Directions and Map (opens in new browser) from the Lewis University
website.
Registration
Registration will be held in the Student
Union building of Lewis University Sunday, June 27, 2004, from 12
noon to 8:00 PM.
NOTE: Registration will temporarily suspend during the Opening
Mass, so if you arrive during this window of time (3:45 PM to about
6:00 PM) please head over to the Student Recreation and Fitness Center
to join us at Mass and then come back to the Student Union afterwards
to register.
We look forward to welcoming you and registering you quickly so you and
your family can relax after your trip and enjoy your convention.
To speed your process, we suggest that one adult family member
enter the registration area. Other family members can remain nearby outside,
or in the basement of the Student Union building (rest rooms, water fountain,
lounge room) for a short wait. There will be a tent and pavillion for
your use as well. Please be prepared to pay the balance of your fees
and receive your room assignments and keys. Please bring your confirmation
notice and your checkbook. (Confirmation notice is optional,
but helpful. You should have received confirmation within 3 to 6 weeks
after registration.) You will receive a Convention Packet at the check-in
containing a program booklet, name tags, evaluation form, tape order form,
and visitor information. Registration will be available Sunday (6/27)
12 Noon to 8PM (with a break during the Opening Mass), and Monday (6/28)
8AM to 11AM. On Monday or Tuesday please go to CCL command center in the
Big Red Room in Student Union.
We are able to accept ONLY EXACT CASH or CHECKS please. Checks
should be payable to "CCL CHICAGO 2004".
Day Registration
(those attending talks and workshops but staying and eating off campus)
will remain open until Monday noon, 28 June 2004. Childcare cannot be
provided for day registrants who register after June 20, 2004. Our well-planned
childcare program is closed to new registrations as it is filled now.
Childcare Registration
As childcare registration has been filled, this information is for
those who have preregistered for childcare. You can register your
children at the Childcare Registration table in the Student Union building
where you will receive their identification wrist bands which each
child must wear at all times during the convention. WE SUGGEST
YOU TO IMMEDIATELY PLACE THE WRISTBANDS ON YOUR CHILDREN AS SOON AS YOU
REJOIN THEM. You will fill out and turn in the Child
/ Youth Registration Form. You will like to keep a copy for yourselves
as well. To assist you in filling out these forms, you can access the
form now if you like and print to bring along with you. You can keep a
copy for yourself. All children can be listed on the form. You do not
need a form for each child, but one per family will be fine.
Child / Youth
Registration Form and Information (40 K PDF) - Print two copies or
save the file so you have a copy.
Blank forms will however be available for you at registration if you
do not wish to fill them out ahead of time.
Registration information to help you plan your visit is to be found in
the Registration Packet along with the Agenda and Workshop schedule. You
may like to print a copy for your reference to bring with you if you have
not already done so.

After Registration
If you arrive early in the afternoon, you should have time to move
into your dorm rooms and relax before the Opening Mass at 4:00 pm. The
university pool will be available for our families on Sunday from
12:00 - 3:00 PM. It is located in the Student Recreation and Fitness Center.
NOTE: Although a lifeguard will be on duty, all children must be supervised
at all times in the pool area by an adult. The pool is for family
fun. There will be other pool times available on Monday and Tuesday as
well.
Adoration in Sancta Alberta Chapel (Side adoration chapel)
Throughout the convention, the adoration chapel will be open for prayer.
Whenever possible, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the adoration
chapel, which is entered either through the main chapel or through a separate
outside door. The rosary, confessions, and Benediction will be available
every night in the main chapel. Five families are needed each night to
lead the five decades of the rosary. Sign up for leading a decade or for
Eucharistic adoration in the back of the main chapel. Please plan to visit
our Lord often!
Convention Attire
For those who haven't attended a CCL convention before, the dress code
is definitely casual and comfortable, but modest attire is requested,
despite current fashion trends. Modest attire seeks to conceal rather
than reveal. In practical terms, this would be no bare shoulders (no tank
tops, halter tops) or midriffs. Clothing should be loose-fitting. In addition,
please avoid mini-skirts or short-shorts. Capris would be considered modest.
Also, cover-ups for swimwear are requested outside of the pool area (for
walking across
campus etc.)
MORE CONVENTION INFORMATION (edited from Registration Letter)
Convention Site
Lewis University is a wonderful facility for our convention. Located in
Romeoville, IL, it is easy to locate and about 30 minutes southwest from
Chicago (not far off of I-55). Rooms at Lewis University have been available
on a first come-first served basis. These rooms are now filled and convention
attendees will need to find their own accommodations off campus. See more
about Lewis University at www.lewisu.edu
and take a virtual tour of campus.
The Student Recreation and Fitness Center, our main talk building, also
has a gymnasium, fitness center and swimming pool available. A map of
the campus will be given to you at check - in.
Housing
Most dormitory rooms have two twin size beds available with some having
a single twin bed. All dorm rooms have a microwave and mini-refrigerator.
The rooms are air-conditioned. Families will be designated adjacent rooms
as often as is possible. In general, each room can accommodate 2 people,
with one on the floor. Dorms have a lounge on most floors perfect for
socializing with other CCL families. Some have kitchenettes and/or TV
and/or game room. There are FREE washers and dryers available.
Bedding will NOT be provided so bring pillows, sleeping bags or bed sheets.
(You will be notified in your confirmation letter of how many will need
bedding for the floor). Be aware that some of the twin beds are XL so
regular twin fitted sheets may not fit. In addition, you will need to
bring your own towels, washcloths, etc. Some dorms have one bathroom shared
by multiple rooms, others have a large multi-stall, multi-shower men's
bathroom and women's bathroom on each floor. Please plan to bring a tote
tray or bucket to carry your toiletries to/from the bathroom. Any special
housing needs were to be reported to us on your registration form but
do let us know at registration if you have any special needs.
Meals
As part of your stay on the Lewis University campus, meals are provided.
Due to the large number of attendees expected, the cafeteria will run
in two shifts serving dinner Sunday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday
and Tuesday; and breakfast and lunch Wednesday (See Event
Schedule). If you are staying off campus, meals may not be available.
Please plan accordingly. There are many restaurants from sit-down to fast-food
in the area. Food marts may provide you with picnic supplies.
For our on-campus guests, your family will be assigned a shift for your
meals in order to speed up the food service (and so you don't have to
wait in line for a long time for your food!) Please remember to indicate
on your registration form which meal shifts you would prefer. Every effort
will be made to accommodate your preference.
Daily Worship
Both Mass and Protestant services will be held daily during the Convention.
Masses are currently scheduled at 6:30 AM, 12:15 PM and 7:45 PM. Protestant
services will be at 12:15PM in the Sancta Alberta Chapel. You can
choose the Mass your family can attend based on your assigned meal shift.
Additionally, there are scheduled Confession times and the Rosary will
be prayed and Benediction will also be in the Sancta Alberta Chapel. Complete
information on the worship services will be available at Convention check-in
and in the Event Schedule.
Children at the Convention
Every effort is being made to make the 2004 Convention as enjoyable for
children as for their parents. Their happiness, safety, and Christian
formation are our first concerns. The activities will be varied and supervised.
As usual, children under age three will stay with their parents during
the talks and workshops.
CCL has a tradition to remember that sleeping babies may be disturbed
by vociferous applause. We signify our acclaim for a speaker by waving.
It is fun and much appreciated by tired parents and little slumbering
ones!
Please leave a session if your child is restless and go to the
romp n play room available near the main talks. All children, including
teens, must be with their parents or in child care throughout the convention.
This is non-negotiable. Strollers may be used in the Student Recreation
and Fitness Center (the Main Speaker location). Strollers cannot be
used in the dining room. There simply isn't room for their safe use.
No colored drinks are allowed in carpeted areas on the campus.
Tips for Success
Be sure to drink plenty of water. Bring sun screen. You may need a sweater
too inside the air conditioned areas or outside. Mosquito repellent applied
to skin is suggested for evenings outside.
Please, remember that most of the people working the convention also
paid a registration fee. Even those that are paid staff are making significant
sacrifices for the conference. Expect a glitch or two, and please remember
to say thank you.
Workshops
Your workshop choices were to be listed on your registration form. Spouses
may attend the same or separate workshop sessions. This is not a binding
decision, but helps the committee schedule the workshop rooms. (Speakers
and titles are subject to change.) Please note, Workshop A2 and B11 are
required by one spouse of every Teaching Couple attending the Convention.
In other words, of the four opportunities for workshops, one must be for
either A2 or B11. Workshop Schedule
Meal Shifts
You should have chosen a meal shift preference on your registration form.
The meal shift will need to be balanced so as to not overburden the food
service. There are two entrances to the cafeteria and two lines. Please
feel free to use either.
Volunteer Opportunities
Opportunities are available in the following areas: Childcare (filled,
thank you!), Workshop Room Monitors, Lectors, Servers for Mass and Extraordinary
Ministers of the Eucharist. Adult and teen volunteers will be assisting
with childcare. Our volunteers are good at working with children and willing
to follow the dress code. After the convention, a small stipend will be
mailed to the volunteers who assist with childcare. Workshop Monitors
will help with taping the workshops. Young men are asked to volunteer
to serve at Mass. Additionally, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
and Lectors may be needed, depending on the number of priests available.
You can let someone know at registration that you are interested in volunteering
and they will direct you to the proper committee head. Thank you!
Convention Fees
The full convention fee is $100 for a family, $75 for an individual. Single-day
convention fee is $45 for a family, $35 for an individual.
Scholarship Fund
There was a place on the Registration Form for any donations to the Convention
Scholarship Fund. Some CCLI families need financial assistance to attend
the convention. If you are able to partially fund another family's attendance
it is greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate any funds, please
do so at registration.
Convention Video
Highlights of this year's Convention will be available for purchase on
DVD. If you would like a copy, please visit the CCL vendor table. The
DVDs cost only $15.00 each. It will be fun to see the events unfold on
the video and watch for your family amidst the crowd! Be sure to pick
up an order form. These finely filmed DVD videos will be produced by GenesysDigital.com.
Convention Shirts
Shirts are available with this year's theme
and beautiful logo design of "Open Your Heart to God's Plan".
Shirts ordered on the registration form were to be pre-paid and can then
be picked up at the Convention during on-site Registration. A limited
supply of shirts will be available at convention but may go very quickly.
They are available in many sizes including infant.
Non-refundable fee
If you have registered but are unable to attend, please contact the registration
committee. $40 of your pre-payment is non-refundable. If you need to cancel
your reservation, please contact John &
Margaret Iannitello as soon as possible. You will
be charged a $40 cancellation fee and the remainder of your registration
fee will be returned to you.
We pray for your safe journey to us and for a wonderful time together
as we "Open Our Heart to God's Plan"!
