Steve Wood's family home and Family Life Center have suffered damage from Hurricane Charley. From their website (Aug. 23, 2004):

"Dear Friend,

The eye of Hurricane Charley passed directly over the Family Life Center, my home, and the homes of our staff members. The damage is severe. The needs are great. The crisis is unparalleled.

The national weather service gave us no warning whatsoever. Our local weatherman gave us only a few minutes of warning – not enough time to do anything except to take cover as best we could. Because of the devastating hurricane damage, I’m dealing with multiple crises every day from morning until night.

It’ll be weeks – perhaps months – before things get back to normal. Please sit down right now and give this EMERGENCY APPEAL your prayerful attention. Our greatest emergency needs I’ll tell you the whole shocking story in a moment. But first let me tell you what we most desperately need:

1. Prayers. Please pray for the fastest possible recovery from Hurricane Charley"

Steve Wood has led youth, campus, and pro-life ministries. A graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, he served as an Evangelical pastor for a decade before his entire family converted to Catholicism in 1990. Responding to a challenge from Pope John Paul II to strengthen families, he started the Family Life Center International in 1992. In just over a decade, the Family Life Center has networked with 60,000 families in over 60 countries.

Steve is also the founder of St. Joseph's Covenant Keepers (http://www.dads.org), a movement that seeks to transform society through the transformation of fathers and families. Utilizing his book Christian Fatherhood, audio and video tapes, television, radio and conferences, Steve has reached tens of thousands of men in the USA, Canada and overseas with a message of Christian faith and responsibility. He is the host of the live Faith and Family broadcasts on EWTN worldwide radio, as well as the host of The Carpenter Shop, a show for men on EWTN television.

Recently, Steve has written two books: The ABCs of Choosing a Good Husband and The ABCs of Choosing a Good Wife to assist young adults in choosing a lifetime partner and preparing for marriage. More Books by Steve

He is Certified Family Life Educator and a member of the American Counseling Association and the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors. Steve is also a professional Christian Life Coach with a private practice for those seeking to refine and refocus life mission, purpose and priorities and to develop strategies for achieving life goals .

Steve and Karen Wood have been married twenty-five years and are the parents of eight children.
